An overflowing audience greeted "Breaking News" cast members Tim Matheson (Anchorman Bill Dunne), Clancy Brown (Executive News Director Peter Kozyck), Rowena King (Field Reporter Jamie Templeton), and Gardner Stern, creator and producer-writer of the newsroom television drama, who joined award-winning producer and USC Annenberg associate dean Joe Saltzman to discuss TV portrayals of news media professionals on Friday, Oct. 11, 2002 at 3 p.m. in Norris Theatre on the USC campus.

Saltzman, director of the Image of the Journalist in Popular Culture (IJPC) and author of "Frank Capra and the Image of the Journalist in American Film," showed a specially edited 20-minute video introducing the characters in "Breaking News." The panelists then discussed the image of the journalist in TV series and fielded questions from the audience.

A book signing and reception with the celebrity panelists followed the discussion in the Annenberg East Lobby.
