Karen Miller Russell studies media history with an emphasis on public relations. She is also interested in qualitative research, such as ethnography and case studies, on PR. Dr. Russell is the author of The Voice of Business: Hill and Knowlton and Postwar Public Relations. She has written articles for Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly, Communication Yearbook, Journal of Public Relations Research, Public Relations Review, Business History Review, American Journalism and Journalism Monographs. Dr. Russell is the winner of the 2001 Pathfinder Award, the highest award from the Institute for Public Relations. This coveted award is given in recognition of originally scholarly research which has made a significant contribution to the body of knowledge and practice of public relations. In 1999, Dr. Russell received the PRide Award for Top Book of the Year from the National Communication Association, PR Division. In 1995, she received the Nafziger-White Award for best mass communication dissertation from AEJMC.
